How do you identify a bird.

Birds…

• Have a body covered in feathers

• Have wings and most birds can fly

• They have a light-weight, hollow skeleton

• Most birds build a nest in which the eggs are laid

• They lay eggs with hard shells which need warmth from a parent bird to hatch

• They look after their young until they are independent

• They have scaly legs and claws and a hard beak

• They are warm blooded and maintain a constant body heat
