How do you identify an amphibian.
Amphibians….

Have soft, moist skins through which they can breathe when underwater and at rest

They lay many soft-shelled eggs

They do not look after their young
-
They go through a life cycle called metamorphosis hatching from an egg to a tadpole form with gills and then changing gradually into the adult form with lungs.

They spend at least part of their life in water and always come back to water to lay their eggs
-
They have webbed feet for swimming
-
Their skin is usually smooth and with a slimy mucus covering
